A term that basically means “material,” or “stuff,” and is made up of the same type of cell. Some main categories of tissue are epithelial (skin), nerve, muscle, and connective, but really there are lots more. Connective tissue includes, bone, ligaments, cartilage, fibrous… lists can go on and on. Blood is even considered a tissue. As an analogy, if we thought of a “house” having tissue, there’d be brick, wood, roofing, tar, plumbing, wiring (divided into both the rubbery insulation as well as the copper inside), etc. etc.
