These include fungal and other uncommon infections; tumors of the throat, larynx, or trachea; Interstitial Lung Disease; and others.ย A chest x-ray usually shows if any of these may be present.ย If a patient also has shortness of breath, pulmonary function tests (PFTs) will detect an abnormality.ย If the chest x-ray is normal, and especially if PFTs also are, it’s very unlikely the person would have anything serious in their lungs.
