Clinicians are medical professionals who can diagnose and treat diseases. They primarily include doctors (various kinds), nurse practitioners, and physician assistants. Many other healthcare professionals are also clinicians in their specialized settings, such as therapists (mental health, physical, occupational, speech), midwives, some pharmacists, and likely others. We work in a variety of settings.
In my opinion, what distinguishes “clinicians” from other professionals is their capacity for independent problem-solving and decision-making. In the context of this website, a clinician is someone able to make a diagnosis.
